These small sculptural pieces are made from rocks which have been left in a solution so that it grows aragonite (a form of calcium carbonate) crystals. Sitting within a glass dome, these pieces are reminiscent of a terrarium or miniature landscape environment. The roundish crystal formations make the rock appear as if it’s transforming into a cloud. Reflected in a pool of silver mirror, these forms encourage a blurring of the boundaries between what we perceive as earth, water and sky. The pieces play with ideas of interconnectedness and chemical kinship.
